Northeast Region

Includes New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The region will Rally at Peters Pond RV Resort, Sandwich, MA  September 17-19, 2010.

An agreement was reached with the campground (www.peterspond.com).  The rate will be $20.00 per night, including any days before and after the rally. (The rate is actually $19.99 per night, but I rounded it up a penny to make it easier.)  We have reserved 35 sites, on condition we forward full payment by the 1st of August.

The campground has a central campfire circle near our sites, plus volley ball court, horseshoes, shuffleboard courts, lakefront, full hookups including cable TV, and more.  It is close to Martha’s Vineyard, the National Seashore, whale watch tours, etc.  The location is near the base of Cape Cod, so near to everything.

We plan to have our traditional baked bean and hot dog supper Friday evening, and pot-luck supper on Saturday evening.  Sunday morning, we will get you started with pastry & coffee, or tea.  We are planning some games and contests for Saturday.

NOTES:  Restrooms & showers are some of the best I have seen in a campground, BUT are a distance from out sites.  There will be portable units near our sites to help out.

The Pot-luck will be in a large tent, so electric power will be limited to lights.

Camp fires are not permitted at individual sites. (Propane campfires can be rented.)

Pets, on leash, must have current rabies certificates.

Check-in time 1:00 PM.  Check out time by 1:00 PM (usually 10:00am)..

Reservations must be made through your Regional Director.  Please complete a reservation form and mail with a check to Lawrence M. Sedgwick, Jr., 263 Dartmouth College Hwy, Haverhill, NH  03765.

The rate is the best we could find, especially on Cape Cod.

Northeast Region September Rally Report

Once again we had a great turnout for our rally in Old Mystic CT.  We had 32 rigs with a total of 60 people.  Attendees were from NY, CT, NH, MA, ME, VT, VA, PA, NJ, Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Pierre Rochon from Waterford CT was wagon master.  His work made this rally a great success.  He had stickers made with our new logo (all the states are listed in the border).  He also had this logo made up as a banner, but the highlight of his efforts was the solar lighted banner stand.  He used black PVC piping to make the frame (approx 4ftx3ft high).  And it had two solar lights mounted on top. There is no doubt who this group is anymore!

Hot dogs and baked beans on Fri evening at the campfire were enjoyed by all.  Saturday we had our pot-luck supper which is always exceptional due to the culinary talents of our great cooks!  After supper we bestowed honorary membership to members who are not in our region, but have attended at least two of our rallies.  This idea was not ours, but came from our great friends to the North who made us honorary Canadians.

We were lucky to have a workshop by Lynn Thye on letterboxing  (leaving your stamp in a stamp book that has been cleverly hidden with the clues accessed by letterboxing.com).  Also, Dave Michaels did a walk-about answering questions about Aliners.  Dave is the” Do It Yourself” guru for the AOC.  There were many attractions close by and everyone seemed to have a good time!

Larry and I enjoy these rallies because of the wonderful people who attend them.  We had many favorable comments from people at the campground and we will never forget one young woman who is an Aliner fan, and was ecstatic that our group was staying in her hometown.  Her enthusiasm for our little Aliners gave us goosebumps as we remembered the first time we ever saw an Aliner!     Happy Trails!     Ruth Sedgwick

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thirty-six rigs hailing from 11 States and 4 Canadian Provinces met at North Pole Campground in Wilmington, NY, in the ‘Forever Wild’ Adirondack Park.  We had a total of 67 people and 5 dogs.  It was the first rally for 9 of the units.  Many of the campers had just attended the successful Eastern Canada Rally in New Brunswick the weekend before.

We had hot dogs and homemade baked beans on Friday evening.  After supper, we watched a wonderful video on the Adirondack Park “Inside the Blue Line” provided by member Jim Robinson.

Saturday, the members scattered to enjoy the area.  Chris Corbett and his wife Coleen led a group of eight on a five mile hike through the woods and streams. Do-it-yourself guru Dave Michaels was able help several members solve problems with their Aliners.  As we gathered for a pot-luck dinner that evening, Piet DeZeeuw of Ontario took a great photo of the group and printed it so everyone received a copy before departing on Sunday.  There were so many crock pots we kept tripping the breakers in the group hall, but the food was delicious.  Sheila Ryan provided beautiful music on her hammered dulcimer as we stood in line for dinner.  Larry collected some of the recipes, and is starting a cookbook for the region.

Sunday morning we had fresh baked pastries from a local bakery, and lots of coffee, before packing up and heading for home.

Everyone who attended the Northeast Rally thanked us for a wonderful time, but the kudos really belong to the attendees!  All were friendly and took time to help the first timers enjoy the weekend.  All pitched in and helped with loading and unloading supplies, set up and clean up.  Campers talked with each other and generated the warm friendly comradary that is the foundation of the Aliner Owners Club.

Thanks to member Pierre Rochon who searched out the location for the 2009 Northeast Region Rally in Old Mystic, CT.  It will be Sept. 18-20 with many great things to do very close by.  Pierre will serve as wagon master.
