Eastern Canada Fall Rally, September 7-9, 2007 On September 7th to 9th, 2007, the Eastern Canada Region had another successful rally. They had 15 rigs, and a total of 32 people and 3 dogs attend their gathering at the Sleepy Cedars Family Campground in Greely, Ontario. There were members from Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. They kicked off the weekend with a meet and greet/weenie roast on Friday night and the official unveiling of their Regional banner. As a start to a new tradition, a small plaque engraved with the names Piet & Marilyn de Zeeuw was added to the banner pole to commemorate the work they did as former Directors of the Eastern Canada Region from 2001 to 2005. After a short meeting, the group gathered around a campfire to finish off the evening. Everyone was sent back to their rig that night with a little bit of homework, an Aliner Owners Club fun quiz. On Saturday morning, Ross Kay led a small group on a geocaching event. There was also a washer toss competition in the afternoon. Everyone who participated seemed to have enjoyed both activities very much. At 5:30pm, retired photographer Piet de Zeeuw took another amazing group picture and handed everyone a copy the next morning. All the members then made their way to the recreation hall for the “Eastern Canada Region’s Famous Potluck.” After supper, the campground generously offered to take people on a wagon ride so all the “big kids” hopped on and went around the campground singing Christmas carols….. Once all the happy campers returned from the wagon ride, the regional directors announced that they had come up with and idea to show their appreciation to all the members from the United States who regularly attend the Eastern Canada Region rallies. Four couples were presented with a certificate stating that they had attended two or more rallies and therefore were to be known as honorary Eastern Canadians. They were also given a small Canadian flag and a pin each.
The couples are Dick and Teresa Welch of Massachusetts, who so far have attended 4 Eastern Canadian rallies. Carl and Alice Amero of New Hampshire; Ruth and Larry Sedgwick also of New Hampshire and George and Mary Robbins of Maine, whom have all attended 2 rallies each. An addition to the Eastern Canada Banner will also be made to honour these folks. Joanne Colombo from Ontario will have the task over the winter months to design and sew a narrow vertical banner to be hung next to the Eastern Canada Banner. All the new honorary Eastern Canadians were asked to bring either a patch or emblem from their respective State to be sewn on to it. So far they have a sew-on patch from the state of Massachusetts donated by Dick Welch. After a few pictures, hand shakes and congratulations, it was time for the quiz which had been corrected during the day to be handed back to the members. The top scores were given to Ruth and Larry Sedgwick and Piet and Marilyn de Zeeuw. Although they got first pick at door prizes, there were plenty for everyone. Some were bought with rally funds and some were donated or beautifully hand crafted by members. Another short meeting was held to see if anyone had any suggestions to improve future rallies and next year’s rally location was announced. As usual it will be held the weekend after Labour Day. It will take place in New Brunswick. Stay tuned for the location to be announced in the next newsletter. The evening ended with the members giving three cheers to the directors for another great rally!
Eastern Canada Fall Rally, September 8-10, 2006 The Eastern Canada Rally was held September 8-10, 2006 in Canning Nova Although most people arrived a day or two early, the Rally got under way on Friday night with a weenie roast followed by a huge bonfire where a total of 4 picnic tables were burnt with permission from the campground owners of course. On Saturday, mother nature cooperated and AOC member and retired photographer Piet de Zeeuw was able to capture a great picture of the group with the beautiful view of the
Eastern Canada Fall 2004 Rally Report The 2004 Eastern Canada Aliner Rally was held September 24th, 25th, at the Smuggler's Cove resort and campground. The campground is located on beautiful Prince Edward County, near Picton, Ontario. Click on thumbnail for larger view We had a great weekend with 16 campers attending our 2nd regional rally at Smugglers Cove Resort and Campground. The weather co-operated this year, but the mosquitoes did not due to 5" of rain that made them think that spring had arrived. Many members took in the wineries, and the beautiful scenic tourist area's. One couple lost their way and it took them 2 hours to find their way back, I guess that is why it is called Smugglers Cove. We had a few of last years members and a new and different group of members this year, the youngest being 6 months old. Friday was arrival day for most, a few were there as early as Tuesday. Saturday was spent getting to know each other, and open house, which is always a favorite. A lot of modifications, a lot of photo's and notes were taken and written down. Potluck supper was enjoyed by all Saturday night, followed by a Kareoke musical night, supplied by the campground. A lot of us exhibited their talents at the mike. and the dance floor was busy. Members attending came from Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, New York, Quebec and Ontario. All 3 days, we had people visiting and viewing our units, as they saw the notice on the club web site. Thanks to everyone that attended and hope they had as good a time as we did.
