James Island County Park

Charleston, SC, camping

Camping in Charleston S. C. can be a pleasure. They have one of the best “RV” parks I have ever seen. My site backed up to a small pond with a fountain in the middle.

James Island Country Park

Next to the pond was a swing I used often. It was great to eat breakfast sitting in the swing and watching the ducks play in the water. Shade was on the camper all day and a gentle breeze whispered all day and night. That kept the expected bugs away and made the entire visit a pleasure. “James Island County Park” deserves four stars, a thumbs up or whatever rating is tops.

In addition to the well planned sites, there is a shuttle to take campers to downtown Charleston and leave the driving to them. There is lots to see and do in and around Charleston. The first day there my Sweetie and I attended an outdoor wedding and the second day we visited the site of the restoration of the Confederate submarine Hunley. In addition to the sites, there are many fine places to eat. I have been told there is not a bad restaurant anywhere to be found. I now believe that.
