Why we love Aliners!

There are many reasons why club members have chosen the Aliner for a camping trailer...  but the primary reason is easy setup and takedown in a light weight trailer that does not involve canvas.   As demonstrated in the film strip above, borrowed from our Australian friends, there are several simple steps that can be executed in 30 seconds or less.   That is very important if you are trying to set up or take down in a rain or a wind storm. Stopping to camp, it is easy to pop up the top and climb in and be cozy until the storm has passed.   Then there is the added sense of security of sleeping without canvas around you.

The base model weighs in at only 995 lbs which can be pulled behind virtually any vehicle with a hitch installed.   The Alite weighs even less at about 775 lbs weight for the small compacts to tow.  They pull great on the highway at interstate speeds, and with the offroad package installed can make it down some bumpy gravel roads into the back woods.   Very stable when being towed and easy to store in half of a 2 car garage, there is not much not to love about an Aliner.

But at the 2001 rally in June another reason was discovered....  The Aliner had become that "cute little home on wheels" for many couples, with numerous modifications made to make it cozy and efficient.   Everything from custom slip covers, shelves, and drawers, to shoe racks installed under the sofabed and don't forget that spa.  Creativity soared as the many solutions to optimize the space in an Aliner were demonstrated.  Aliner owners seem to be a special breed... although some like to fish and hunt, others the end-of-the-road experience, and some just the convenience of a quiet weekend away in beautiful surroundings, all share the thrill of having something a bit unique to do it in.
